Renowned Drumming Ensemble Headlines Black History Month Program at Potterâs Home

Drummers from all walks of life, and from each and every level of drumming abilities, other musicians of all varieties, and spectators of all nationalities and ages, will come together to generate a wonderful expression of creative energies for a Black History Month celebration. The event takes places at the Potter’s Home at 1658 Columbia Road, Washington, DC on Friday February 17 2006 from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
Having grown out of the cultural experience demonstrated in Malcolm X Park, Washington, DC, the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers are a group of tremendously talented artists. Performers incorporate founder Doc Powell, Master Drummer, Baba Joseph Ngwa, master drummer from Cameroon, West Africa, Donald Donga, a Nigerian master dancer formerly with the National Troupe of Nigeria, and King Baba James a Nigerian master dancer formerly with the National Troupe of Nigeria. Becky Umeh, the lead dancer is a Nigerian master dancer and mastersinger. Vocalist, Adrienne Calhoun and Spoken Word artists will be included on the program.
Audiences will be dazzled with unusual body distortions, no-hand flips, music, dance, and magical choreography. A $ 10 donation is suggested.
